This is a six round EGF Class A tournament over three days: Saturday to Monday.

Free Tea and Cake on Friday

For those of you that arrive on Friday, at 3pm there will be an informal gathering in  Holland Park ( about a 20 minute walk from London Go Centre) at the  Holland Park Cafe where we will treat tournament entrants to a hot drink and piece of cake, followed by a visit to the nearby beautiful Kyoto Garden. Please register your interest so we can plan.

(You could do much worse than stay at the Safestay Hostel in the park for the duration)

The programme is in early days and we expect to enrich it is as we get closer to the date, watch this space)


Entry is free of charge  and is open to any European woman (In 2019 there were 36 entrants ranging from 5 dan to 30 kyu).

If you’re uncertain whether your entry has been accepted, just check our list of Registered Players.

If you do not wish your name to appear in the online list of players you must indicate this when you register.

If subsequently you wish your name to be removed from the online list then email us.


Your initial McMahon score (MMS) will be set from your GoR as published on the date of the tournament. If you do not have a GoR you might be required to provide other evidence of your strength. Your initial MMS determines who you will play in the first round.


The European Women’s Championship is conducted according to EGF Rules, broadly as follows:

 Handicap (if required) McMahon difference – 1
Digital Timing 45 minutes +15 seconds/move (Fischer Time)

Placement criteria: MMS, SOS, SOSOS. Only players who play all rounds will be ranked.
