This is a five round Class C tournament for kyu graded players only. The MacMahon bar is set no higher than 3 kyu (so far it has always been 5 kyu or lower).

It will be held at the new venue and will be hosted in the T Mark Hall room. The new venue is spacious and equipped with modern ventilation systems.

The day will conclude with a lecture by Saito Takashi, 5D and then prize giving.

Surcharge £5 if you are not a member of your national Go Association. This non-member surcharge is waived if this is your first Go tournament within Europe.


In accordance with the wishes of the sponsor of this tournament prizes will be books.

The first three placed may choose a book from either Kiseido or Slate and Shell published by Amazon.

The three highest placed DDK may also choose a book.

The highest placed 20 kyu or weaker on the day of registration may also choose a book.


Formal registration and payment takes place when the tournament starts. However if you pre-register you will pay the entry fee appropriate to the date you applied.

If you do not wish your name and grade to appear in the online list of players you must indicate this when you register.

If subsequently you wish your name to be removed from the online list then email us.


Your initial McMahon score (MMS) will be set from your GoR as published on the date of the tournament. If you do not have a GoR you might be required to provide other evidence of your strength. Your initial MMS determines who you will play in the first round. If you do not think your GoR is accurate (for example, you are a quickly improving kyu player who hasn’t played in any recent tournaments) please email us with your preferred strength.


The Bar Low is conducted according to LGC Tournament Rules with these parameters:

Playing time 25 minutes
Canadian Overtime 20 moves in 5 minutes, sudden death
Komi 7½ points
Handicap McMahon difference – 1 (where required)
