This is the 3rd annual event in memory of T Mark Hall, who left a legacy to establish a London Go Centre. It is rated EGF Class C.

You will pay the entry fee appropriate to the date you pre-register (see below).

The winner of the T Mark Hall Rapid Play Tournament will be the proud holder of the T Mark Hall Memorial Trophy for one year and their name engraved.


Formal entry and payment begins at the start of the day however if you pre-register now, (indicated which or both days) on attending you will pay the fee associated with the date you applied (fee schedule below).

In the current circumstances we ask you to pre-register and not “walk-in”

£5 surcharge if you are not a member of your national Go association. £5 discount for students. Free if under 12 on 1 September 2020.


Formal registration and payment takes place when the tournament starts. However if you pre-register you will pay the entry fee appropriate to the date you applied.

If you do not wish your name to appear in the online list of players you must indicate this when you register.

If subsequently you wish your name to be removed from the online list then email us.


Your initial McMahon score (MMS) will be set from your GoR as published on the date of the tournament. If you do not have a GoR you might be required to provide other evidence of your strength. Your initial MMS determines who you will play in the first round. If you do not think your GoR is accurate (for example, you are a quickly improving kyu player who hasn’t played in any recent tournaments) please email us with your preferred strength.


The tournament is conducted according to British Go Association Rules

Komi 7½ points
Handicap (if required) McMahon difference – 1
Digital Timing (default) 40 minutes sudden death
Analogue Timing (only if needed) 40 minutes sudden death
